A significant amount of money is invested into your pool, by heating your pool you will maximise the use of it, thus enabling you, your family and pool friendly neighbours to have more fun, enjoyment and entertainment. By heating the pool you will maximise your investment. A properly designed system will extend your swimming by 6-8 weeks either side of the season. This does fluctuate from state to state. See performance guide graphs for more information regarding your state. Outdoor Pools - A minimum requirement would be 80% of the pools surface area. We do however recommend 100% of the pools surface area to be covered. I.e. A pool with dimensions 9 x 4.5 = 40m² 80% Coverage = 32m² 100% Coverage = 40m² Indoor Pools - As an indoor pool does not receive any natural heating by the sun it requires a greater solar coverage. Coverage of 150% is recommended for indoor pools. The greater the solar coverage, the faster you will reach your desired temperature. This is a very common question, whilst it is true that some roofs such as slate or particularly steep roofs may be more difficult than others, we can install solar on them. The ideal roof for solar in the southern hemisphere is a northerly aspect with a slight pitch. Flat roofs are also ideal. Our automatic solar controllers will allow you to set a maximum temperature for your pool. Your solar will switch on when your roof is 8˚C hotter than your pool and will continue to operate until either your maximum temperature has been achieved OR when the difference between your roof and pool drops below 4˚C. Pools lose energy in a variety of ways, but evaporation is by far the largest source of energy and water loss for swimming pools. Covering your pool with a bubble type blanket when not in use is the most effective way of maintaining a warmer pool. Water loss is minimized which is essential in the current climate conditions. Yes they can, but the damage over the last fifteen years has been minimal (less than 1% of our systems) and can be repaired easily.
